NY Giants Focusing on Playoff Hopes

The New York Giants, one of the American Football teams with the most extend history first joined the NFL in 1925. The team is a current member of the Eastern Division of the NFC and it is headquartered at the Giant Stadium at the Meadowlands Sports Complex in New Jersey. With a total of six NFL titles, this team is a favourite to participate in this NFL season playoffs. For the moment, there is a very good chance the New York Giants can improve their standings if they achieve a win against the Detroit Lions this coming Sunday since they are 6-3 and tied for the third-best record in the NFC. "This is separation Sunday for us," Detroit receiver Roy Williams said. "If we win this game, we'll be alone in third place." On the other hand Giants coach Tom Coughlin tries to downplay the significance of the game. "We're really not talking about playoffs or anything of that nature at this point," Coughlin said. The Giants numbers for the season opener were pretty solid until this past Sunday when they lost to Dallas; in total they sum six wins and two losses under Coach Tim Coughlin supervision. New York's defense had a lot to do with the six-game win streak, allowing 79 points during that period basically one less than it surrendered in the first two games. While the Lions are 4-0 at home and plays three of their next four games at Ford Field, those three games are against the teams with the best records in the NFC among which we have the Giants coming up this Sunday, there are also the Packers and the Cowboys. It is very possible the Lions will be relying heavily on their passing game after rushing for minus 18 yards; the worst recorded since 1946 in the NFL history during Sunday's 31-21 loss at Arizona. Finally, some Lions are getting geared up for their next two games and only a few days after receiving the Giants, Detroit will face the NFC North-leading Green Bay Packers at home on Thanksgiving.
